Access Statement

Wyvern House is a Victorian Terraced property constructed in around 1900, located in the Crooklets area of Bude. Our property has retained many original features and we have guest bedrooms located on the first, second and third floors of the property. We are easily accessible from the A39 and only a 5 minute walk into the centre of town, with all its lovely independent shops and restaurants as well as only a 200 yard walk from Crooklets Beach. There are many public transport routes to us and in and around Bude and neighbouring villages.

House Layout

  • The house is on 3 levels; ground, first and second floors. There are 14 steps to a half landing, then 3 steps to the first floor landing. There are then a further 11 steps to another half landing and 6 more steps up to reach the second floor. Each step is 6” inches high and 10” deep. The balustrade handrail is on the right over all floors.
  • Unfortunately, the property is unsuitable for wheelchair users and top floor access would be unsuitable for people with mobility difficulties.
  • Black Rock and Crackington rooms are on the top floor and have sloping ceilings on one side.  There is therefore a height restriction on one side of both of these rooms.
  • There is a small step into the en-suite shower room of Crackington Room, on the top floor of the house
  • All bedrooms are carpeted.
  • All en-suites have linoleum flooring.
  • There are no ground floor bedrooms.
  • There is no private parking on the property, however there is unrestricted parking on the road outside the house. There is a small step into the porch of the house.
  • The ground floor is level throughout

Assistance Dogs and other Pets

  • We have 1 pet dog of our own. Our dog is kept in our own private accommodation at all times is not permitted into guest areas at any time.      

  • We do not own cats or permit any other pets to stay at Wyvern House.


  • Menus and guest welcome information are available for our guest’s information in all bedrooms. Kettles are provided in all rooms and Ironing facilities for guests to use are freely available on the 1st floor landing.

  • Guests are provided with a front door key and room key. Any loss of keys unfortunately will incur a £30.00 charge.

  • The televisions in the room are equipped with teletext.

  • Each bedroom has a main ceiling light, controllable from the door. There are also either bedside lamps on each side of the bed or wall lights above the bed, individually controllable.

  • The duvets and pillows are made of a synthetic filling, suitable for people with allergies

  • All rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms. This may be shower only or bath dependant on room chosen.

  • Heating is thermostatically controlled and adjustable in both guest rooms.

  • Each bedroom is supplied with a well stocked beverage tray and complimentary toiletries in the bathroom.

Dietary Requirements

We are fully compliant with Allergen legislation that came into effect for small businesses in 2014. Please inform us if you have any food allergies, or intolerances prior to your booking to ensure that we can safely accommodate your needs. We endeavour to cater for all our guest’s dietary requirements, to the best of our ability.

Other Information

  • Most mobile phones can be accessed within the house, but there is occasionally limited signal.
  • Wifi is available free to all our guests, codes can be found in the room guest information folder.
  • We cannot unfortunately allow the use of our own private telephone for guest use unless in a genuine emergency.
  • People with nut allergies should be aware that we do use nuts in the kitchen
